Hatfield Ultra-Density Larval System (HUDLS) construction
We are replicating the HUDLS system developed by Henry Fleener at OSU/Hatfield.

Henry was kind enough to give us a prototype to copy.
First step was to cut the 2” pipe that formed the center chamber at an extreme angle to create the interior “saber”. To get the cut on a table saw, we made a sled that pushed the pipe through at the right angle.
We then applied glue to the sabers

and pressed them against Nitex mesh screens

and let them dry. We made 25 of 40 um and 75 um each.
After drying, the sabers were then placed in seawater for 10 days to leach any plasticizers
