Today I attended the USDA/ARS meeting in Portland, OR. Neil outlined the USDA’s plan to take over and expand the OSU Molluscan Broodstock Program (MBP). The new program will be housed at the OSU Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport, OR within the expanded USDA-ARS Pacific Shellfish Breeding Center.   1. Attended the SAFS Equity and Inclusion Committee Meeting. We discussed plans to update the frequency with which the department offers the DEI recognition award.
  2. Met w/ Grace Leuchtenberger to discuss how she can assist with DNA extractions for the USDA-NRSP-8-gigas-rDNA project and thread testing for the PSMFC-mytilus-byssus-pilot project.
  3. Ordered an E.Z.N.A. Mollusc DNA Kit from Omega Bio-tek
  4. Addressed Mackenzie’s comments in the NOPP-gigas-ploidy-temp manuscript, kicked it to Adam for review
